Natural Dyes


Explorations are made on natural fibers; cotton muslin, 100% silk organza & silk charmeuse.

Natural pigments used in the images below are from the following plants/foods:
  • Madder root
  • Quebracho rojo
  • Indigo
  • Broomsedge
  • Onion/Shallot Skins
  • Eco-printing/Bundle dying with flowers

Other natural dye explorations made on natural fibers (not included below) are with: blackberries, tumeric, pokeweed berries, alfalfa & beet.
